You don’t have to be a history buff or former art major to tie the knot in a museum! Museums are cultural institutions that are not only staples of the community, but also make for truly unique wedding venues. From their dramatic architecture to the impressive collections of art they house, continue reading for my favorite museum wedding venues in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Calling all airplane enthusiasts! Fort Worth’s C.R. Smith Museum is one of the sole museums in the world focusing on commercial aviation. It is located on American Airlines’ Flight Academy campus at DFW International Airport. It also happens to boast 35,000 square feet of pristine event space. This Texas museum can accommodate small, intimate weddings or larger gatherings of up to 500. You even have the option of having your first dance under the wings of a vintage 1940’s DC-3 airplane. What could be more unique than that?
The African American Museum of Dallas is one of the finest cultural institutions in the city. It showcases the African American experience through interactive and visual exhibits. More than an impressive museum, this luxury space also hosts weddings. There are multiple ballroom and conference rooms in the building, not to mention the stunning atrium that could see you and your guests dining under a life-size blue whale replica.
Say “I do” surrounded by some of the greatest works of art on the planet. The Dallas Museum of Art is home to over 24,000 artifacts spanning 5,000 years. It also boasts a multitude of romantic and modern event spaces, like the outdoor Eagle Family Plaza with its lush lawn and dining pavilion or the Sculpture Garden with its reflecting pool. Meanwhile The Founder’s Room and The Hamon Atrium both make for excellent indoor venues.
Stunning architecture and world-class exhibits await at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. This Dallas, Texas venue allows you to have the wedding of your dreams in any one of the museum’s exhibit halls. Floor to ceiling windows, contemporary design elements, and a dinosaur skeleton are just a few of my favorite features of this event space.
For a truly unique museum wedding venue, consider the Dallas World Aquarium. Exchange vows in the Rainforest Room, hold your cocktail hour in the Reef Room, and finish things off with a show-stopping reception in the Endangered Species Room. Your guests will love being surrounded by exotic marine life during your special day, and your photographer won’t be able to stop snapping photos of you and your partner amongst the manatees.
For all contemporary couples, this is the Texas museum wedding venue for you. The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth opened in a brand new building in 2002. The lavish space is known for its modern architectural style and impressive collection of modern art, both of which make it a great location for tying the knot. Couples have the option of holding their wedding in the outdoor reception area, the indoor ballroom, or in the atrium of the gallery. And don’t forget to have your wedding photographer snap some couple’s portraits in and amongst the permanent collections!
