Every couple I work with on a photo shoot is a new experience for me. Everyone is unique in their personality and style. Deudrea & Maxine were having a Memphis wedding, which meant I got to visit Memphis for the first time to shoot their engagement session.

The wonderful wedding planner, Rodriel, at Leirdor & Co. introduced me to Deudrea & Maxine. Since It was my first trip to the city I stayed close to downtown at Hotel Napoleon. They were great and let us take a few engagement photos there.

A little-known secret of wedding photography is that it can take a    lot of detective work to find multiple locations for a photoshoot. It really depends on the time of day, year and the style of the couple. So that morning I walked around a few blocks to look for inspiration before I became a Memphis wedding photographer for the day.

Downtown Memphis is full of character and charm so it wasn’t a surprise to find the lobby of the recently opened Hotel Indigo as a great fit. Hotel Indigo actually has a location in Dallas too, so I felt right at home. Right outside the hotel was this bright, beautiful graffiti wall area. The contrast between Deudrea and Maxine’s stylish, monotone outfits and the pop of color as the backdrop created some pretty stunning photos.

If you look closely in the photos we were lucky to catch some small details like a jukebox and the artwork on the graffiti wall that pays homage to the great musical history and life of Memphis. Deundrea and Maxine were not only photogenic but also playful enough to try a few different locations and styles, which made for a great collection of photos for their Memphis engagement session before their September 1st Memphis wedding.

I really enjoy getting to know new couples and locations and would love to bring your ideal engagement and wedding dreams to life!
