I Love Lucy / 1940’s Styled Shoot
March 3, 2017
Really, who doesn’t love Lucy? Growing up I would watch episode after episode of I Love Lucy reruns. Lucille Ball always seemed to amaze me with her humor. I even wished I was a redhead. The love for the show inspired my vision for a I Love Lucy Styled Shoot.
The main focus of the shoot is the white bridal romper. Rompers are not typical fashion for weddings but rompers were quite popular during the 1940’s. This one was purchased from Nasty Gal, which has a great selection of classy but somewhat racy apparel. Since rompers are somewhat casual, I felt a casual venue would be appropriate.
The Brik venue has much of a vintage feel but still boasts a few bright colors. The Brik is located in Fort Worth, just south of downtown. The next focus was finding a model with noticeable red hair and blue eyes. When I saw Katys pictures, I knew she would be perfect.
One thing I love about the Brik Venue is the use of wood and brick to create a vintage and natural look. The natural light brings such an amazing ambiance into the building.
The fourth element to the shoot were the flowers. Janice of Artisian Florals is know for creating artistic pieces. We used pink, yellow, orange and green to embrace the vintage look. Janice also incorporated texture which I loved.
