Daniel & Ashley – St Patrick Catholic Church – Dallas Nigerian Wedding

Daniel and Ashley’s Nigerian wedding was a dream to capture on camera. The happy couple celebrated their love the only way they knew how – with a huge wedding (I’m talking 600 guests, many of whom flew in from other states and countries) that included a ceremony at the bride’s childhood church, a night of dancing, and plenty of Nigerian traditions. Keep reading to discover more about Daniel and Ashley’s elegant, Dallas wedding.
The day began with a Catholic ceremony at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Dallas. The bride had grown up attending services with her family at Saint Patrick and knew from the moment she got engaged that she wanted the ceremony to take place here. The chapel was a dream come true for a Dallas wedding photographer. It had gorgeous stained glass windows and tons of natural light, which made for beautiful wedding photos.
After exchanging vows, the newlyweds, along with their 600 guests, made their way to the SLPS Event Center in Irving, Texas. The reception space was huge, perfect for their large guest count. Despite its size, the couple’s chosen floral and decor managed to make it feel elegant and warm. There was a regal theme throughout, with lots of gold and white decor. In addition, each table had stunning floral arrangements of dusty pink roses and white hydrangea.
Meanwhile, Ashley and Daniel sat at a head table on an elevated stage. The table was covered with a blush pink sequin tablecloth, and atop that were several floating candles and a trailing arrangement of florals and greenery. To make them feel like royalty, the couple sat in a white and gold tufted chaise lounge and behind them was a wall of dramatic draping.
When it comes to fashion, Ashley’s bridal look was nothing short of stunning. She donned a v-neck ball gown for the occasion, complete with blush pink underlay and floral appliqué. Ashley also wore a cathedral veil and sparkly headpiece. Her look paired perfectly with her bridesmaids, who all wore blush pink, floor-length gowns of different styles. The men also looked dapper, Daniel most of all. The groom opted for a dark grey tuxedo with a classic white rose boutonniere. His groomsmen wore light grey suits to complement the groom’s colour palette.
What I loved most about the reception was how personalized it was. Every detail had been considered, and they incorporated so many unique Nigerian traditions, as well as Western traditions. One such Western tradition? The cutting of the cake. However, Daniel and Ashley’s wasn’t just any old cake. In line with the regal and elegant theme of the day, their cake was four tiers, the top two of which were entirely covered in gold foil. There was also a gold drip effect on the bottom tiers and fresh roses towards the top. It perfectly fit with the floral and decor at the reception and was absolutely delicious.
