Vegas is hands down one of my favorite cities in America. Although most people know it for its casinos and nightlife, it’s also home to some of the most breathtaking scenery in the country. As a Vegas elopement photographer, that is why I always love photographing couples in Vegas. You only need to drive a short distance and you’re in the desert, with photo opps at every turn. Keep reading to discover the best desert elopement venues in Vegas, according to me, a Vegas elopement photographer!

Valley of Fire

There is nowhere quite like Valley of Fire State Park. Just 90 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, this park is known for its red rock formations. I always recommend Valley of Fire to Lavishly Lux couples as not only is it one of the most scenic areas outside Vegas, but the stark contrast between the red rocks and the white or black attire of the bride and groom is simply stunning. Also, in my opinion as a Vegas elopement photographer, sunset is the best time for photos as the red rocks make the desert look as if it’s glowing.

Red Rock Canyon

Red Rock Canyon provides one of my favorite backdrops for Vegas elopements. This National Conservation Area offers permits for couples wishing to tie the knot here, making it a popular desert elopement venue near Vegas. It is part of the Mojave Desert and has plenty of stunning geological formations that truly makes this location a Vegas elopement photographer’s dream. As I’ve photographed couples in Red Rock Canyon many times, I can say that my fav spots for couple’s portraits and even ceremonies are Ash Spring, Red Spring, and The Overlook.

Eldorado Canyon

For a more eclectic desert vibe, I always recommend Eldorado Canyon to my couples. This spot not too far from Vegas has plenty of sites to elope. For example, you can opt for Nelson’s Landing, a ghost town filled with vintage cars, barns, and more. Alternatively, Eldorado Canyon also has some of the most beautiful cholla cactus fields I’ve ever seen. Personally, I’m partial to the cholla cactus fields as they are a breathtaking backdrop for photos. However, it’s up to you to decide which style is more your vibe. Alternatively, why not choose both? Perhaps the elopement ceremony in Nelson’s Landing, followed by a photo session in the cactus fields? Overall, I love the variety of settings that Eldorado Canyon offers couples.

Dry Lake Bed

Dry Lake Bed in Boulder City, Nevada is a natural setting unlike anywhere in the world. The barren landscape is perfect for couples that want a clean palette to work with, as there is nothing by stretches of white sand here. Surrounded by the mountains, this locale just 30 miles from Vegas, is ideal for adventure-loving couples. Hiking, horseback riding, biking, and camping are all popular activities here. Lastly, as a Vegas elopement photographer, I can also say first hand how stunning sunset photos are at Dry Lake Bed. With the out of this world landscape and the surrounding mountains, you will be speechless.
