The Astorian is a luxury event venue located in the heart of Houston, Texas. Housed in a building designated by the Houston Historical Society, this event space is a chic, New York City-inspired loft space that is perfect for cosmopolitan couples. If you’re considering tying the knot at The Astorian in Houston, then keep reading to discover my four favorite things about it.

Art Deco Vibes

The Astorian fully embodies the 1920s glamour of the art deco era. It was designed as a throwback to this fashionable era and took inspiration from the art deco architecture of New York City. In fact, The Astorian was made to be reminiscent of Grand Central Station in NYC. Art deco details in the space include stained concrete floors, rusted steel, brushed aluminum, brass and copper detailing, and a 12-foot tall clock (more on that below). Overall, The Astorian is a private loft offering couples 14,000 square feet of space to host their special day.

The Getting-Ready Suites

If getting-ready suites for the bride and groom matter to you, then I bet you’ll be obsessed with what The Astorian has to offer. This Houston event venue has two suites reserved for the couple to get ready in. The first is the Soho Suite, intended for the bride. This elegant, all-white space is 1,100 square feet and features Victorian-era decor, like tufted couches and Baroque chandeliers. For the men, The Astorian offers The Lexington Lounge, an English-inspired lounge setting where the groom and his wedding party can relax, have a drink, watch TV, or even play some video games. The Lexington Lounge also comes with high-speed WiFi and board games.

Choice of Caterers

The Astorian in Houston has teamed up with two of the top wedding caterers in the city, giving couples a choice between them. The two caterers are Jackson & Co. Catering and Cordua Catering. Thus, whether you’re looking for a traditional, custom menu or exotic and innovative dishes, you can have it.

Unique Details

Finally, what I love most about The Astorian in Houston are its many unique details. From a wedding photographer’s perspective, there’s nothing better than having endless options for couple’s portraits, and that’s exactly what you get at this Houston wedding venue. Three of my favorite details about The Astorian are The Clock, a 12-foot tall, fully-functional gold clock located across from the lounge. Then, there is The Mosaic, a room that was brought to life via a million individually placed tiles, using ancient Roman tile laying techniques. Lastly, The Skyline is a room at The Astorian that offers breathtaking views of Houston’s downtown skyline. It is a stunning spot for receptions, as well as photos, especially at night.
